Pregnancy
Pregnancy is approximately a 40 week timeframe, divided into three trimesters, when a woman carries a developing fetus in her womb. During pregnancy, the body undergoes significant changes to support the growth and development of the baby. It is a time of anticipation, excitement and physical/ emotional preparation for the arrival of new life into the world.
Newborn
The newborn stage refers to the first few weeks in a child's life. It is a challenging time as both the infant and parents get to know each other. It requires patience and the establishment of routines. Newborns require round-the-clock checks and care with feeding, diaper changes, nurturing and providing plenty of love and attention. This stage is when your child will grow very rapidly, start to explore their surroundings and learn about the world and develop their basic motor skills.
Baby
The baby stage is the period usually associated with 3 months to 1 year of age. It is a time of further rapid growth where a child starts to refine their fine and gross motor skills, form more complex connections with their caregivers, start perceiving the world more thoroughly through their senses and reach important milestones like crawling, sitting up, walking and getting introduced to solid foods.
Childhood
Childhood is the phase that spans from early toddlerhood to pre-adolescence, roughly between 1 to 12 years of age. It is a time of even further physical and mental development. Children begin to formulate societal and emotional awareness, engage in various types of play forms and start formal education. Childhood is characterized by curiosity and a hunger for knowledge, increased independence and the formation of friendships, hobbies and interests.
Adolescence
Adolescence refers to the transitional period between childhood and adulthood, typically occurring from around the age of 13 to 19. It is a time of extreme physical and cognitive development with the beginning of puberty. At this stage, teenagers begin to form their self identity whilst simultaneously creating their societal one. Their relationships with their peers and family begin to change and they begin to define their personal values and aspirations.
